Rivercliff has a long and interesting history. Built in 1949 by William Alston Cheek — a former Hollywood actor — the property rests on a mountainside plateau, the remnants of a rock quarry. Following its completion, it became known as a secluded hideaway for many of the city’s elite. Even after a half-century or more, Rivercliff has retained its appeal. It has become a haven for young professionals who yearn for something different than a typical apartment complex and empty nesters who want gracious living with worry-free maintenance.

As you stroll around the Rivercliff property, you feel that history has been perfectly preserved. Inside the apartments, solid-concrete construction creates a quiet zone where you won’t hear your neighbors or noises from the outside world. In the game room, you can shoot a game of pool on a table that was played on by Jesse James. And out by the curvy, tiled pool, you can bask in the sun while surrounded by lush beds of flowers and mature oak trees. It’s modern living that has the feel of a simpler time.
